Sad to report the passing of Conservative Borough Council leader Cllr Mandy Perkins

It is with great sadness that Welwyn Hatfield Conservatives learn of the loss of Conservative Council

Leader and long-standing Councillor and friend Mandy Perkins. Her decades of dedicated public service

have transformed her Welwyn Ward and Welwyn Hatfield as a Borough.

Mandy brought boundless energy and enthusiasm to the Council and the shock of her loss is very difficult

for everyone who knew and worked with her to come to terms with.

Taken so soon after assuming office as Borough Council Leader, Mandy brought a host of new ideas to our

area; transforming the local authority into an open and accessible forum for local residents. She will also

be remembered for her extensive charity work, helping support the women’s refuge and the work of

specialist domestic violence services.

Her key support in the Welwyn Hatfield Conservative Association goes back even further than her time in

local office, holding roles including Deputy Chairman Political and Constituency Agent. She has been a

driving force in the Association for many years and much of the political success we have experienced has

been down to her commitment and hard work within the Borough.

More importantly though Mandy will be remembered for her humour, kindness and commitment to

helping those around her. She will be sorely missed by us and the whole of the Welwyn Hatfield

Community and our thoughts and prayers are with her beloved husband David and the rest of her family

and friends at this difficult time.
