I am proud to have represented Hatfield Villages ward as a Conservative councillor for nearly 6 years, having first been elected in 2012, and then re-elected in 2016, and again in 2018.
I have enjoyed my time as a councillor, and I am struck by the diversity of issues that arise in what is now geographically quite a large ward.
Born and bred in Hertfordshire, I am a chartered accountant by profession, and have spent the bulk of my working career in international banking. As part of that career, I am fortunate to have had the experience of living and working overseas on different occasions, both in France and the USA. I am now retired, and in my spare time enjoy travelling in this country and abroad. I am also a railway enthusiast.
Within the Council, I am a member of the cabinet, with responsibility for resources. This covers the budgetary and financial processes within the Council, and this means that I am actively involved in ensuring that residents get value for money, and that our Council is financially self-sufficient.
Since joining the Council in 2012, I have served on a number of different of committees, and working groups, giving me experience of a wide range of the Council’s activities, and I believe this experience, helps me to serve residents.
I work on the basis that all the council’s resources ultimately come from you, the taxpayer. Achieving value for money on your behalf is a priority for me.
I look forward to continuing to serve residents of both Hatfield Villages, and the borough as a whole, to the best of my ability.
Don’t forget that we hold a drop-in councillor surgery on the second Saturday of every month between 10.00am and 10.45am. This takes place in the Hatfield HUB, (same entrance as the Housing Office), in White Lion Square, Hatfield, AL10 0JT.
