Iain Mansfield: Candidate for Panshanger

Iain lives in Panshanger, Welwyn Garden City, with his wife and two young children. He is passionate about wanting Welwyn Garden City to be the best place it can for everyone who lives or works there.

He is the Conservative candidate for Panshanger ward, and has been campaigning hard for several months now.

Iain has over a decade of public service, working as a senior civil servant in the Department for Education, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for Business. During his time in government, he has led major government initiatives to improve the quality of teaching in our universities, protect consumers, make Britain a better place to do business and ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce.

He currently works for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as global head of public sector, with responsibility for leading its interactions with the public sector through a network of over 100 country offices. Outside of work, Iain is a university governor at Bath Spa University; a voluntary role in which he supports Bath Spa’s mission to promote social mobility and provide high quality education to its students.

He is a strong believer in the power of education in transforming lives, as well as the importance of local community resources, such as libraries, in ensuring that such opportunities remain open for everyone. If elected to the Council, his priorities would include delivering high quality services for all, supporting the construction of additional homes in a manner in a manner that takes into account the character of the existing community and keeping the tax burden on hard-working citizens at an affordable level.
