Welwyn West: Mandy PERKINS

Mandy has represented Welwyn West since 1995, and has been Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council since May 2018.  Mandy first joined the Conservative Party in the early 1980s, and has held many offices in the Party both locally and regionally.

Mandy and her fellow Conservative councillors want to work to engage with our communities; that means not only making sure residents and businesses know what Conservative councillors are delivering for them, but also make sure councillors are listening.  Having a proper open dialogue with those we serve is vital, and we hope that we can further strengthen your trust in us by being as open and transparent as possible.

Mandy and her husband David have lived in Welwyn for over 30 years (and currently have two cats who rule the household!); Mandy is proud to represent such a great part of the country, and county, and borough.

Mandy is passionate about domestic abuse and was a Trustee of Welwyn Hatfield Women’s Refuge for over 20 years until earlier this year.  She still sits on the Welwyn Hatfield Domestic Abuse Forum and the County Sunflower Sub Group.  Mandy occasionally volunteers at the Sunflower drop-in in Hatfield for people experiencing domestic abuse.

Mandy and her fellow councillors, Tony Kingsbury and Sunny Thusu, hold monthly Meet Your Councillor surgeries at 10.00 at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Street, Welwyn, on the third Saturday of the month (except in June, when it’s the second Saturday) and welcome everyone who has a problem or issue with Welwyn Hatfield Council.
