I am very keen to represent the residents of Welwyn Division on the County Council, following on from Richard Smith’s many years of dedicated work.
On the Borough Council, I continue to be proud to represent the residents of Welwyn West, covering Welwyn, the Ayots and part of Oaklands & Mardley Heath.
I have lived in Hertfordshire for most of my life, in Welwyn Hatfield since 1988 and in the lovely village of Welwyn since 2009. I studied Physics at Imperial Colleague leading me to become an electronics engineer, now recently retired, but I really enjoy the contrast, but also similarities, my council work brings.
Being first elected as a councillor in 2009, I have really enjoyed doing what I can for residents and the community ever since, helping with many issues including planning, waste collections, litter, parking and housing. I really appreciate hearing from you. It’s not always easy, but always interesting!
In 2010 I became a member of the Cabinet responsible primarily for leisure services in the Borough. In May 2018 I became Deputy Leader with responsibility for Housing until becoming leader in 2018, following the sad death of Mandy Perkins. I am enjoying the challenges this role brings, even over this difficult year and look forward to some new ones on County should residents put their trust in me.
I love life in Welwyn and the surrounding areas, whether walking (more so recently) around the ward, meeting people or litter picking to keep Welwyn tidy.
Please feel free to email or phone me as I’m always happy to help and represent you on local ward, Borough and County issues in future.
